A website requires original content, including graphics and text as much as any other media...

A magazine would never simply cut and paste another magazine's page graphics or pictures, yet it is a common practice on the world wide web. It is the same as adding your signature to another's photograph. Without permission it is stealing. It will only detract from your business if customers [or the owner] notice the reuse.
Copyright law protects these simple graphics, pictures, art, and all forms of text because they are the intellectual property of the artist, author or business owner.
